Then Davidsaid,"I will showkindnessto Hanunthe sonof Nahash,becausehis fathershowedkindnessto me." So Davidsentmessengersto consolehim concerninghis father.And David'sservantscameinto the landof the sonsof Ammonto Hanunto consolehim.
Then Davidsaid,"Is thereyetanyoneleftof the houseof Saul,that I may showhim kindnessfor Jonathan'ssake?"
Davidsaidto him, "Do not fear,for I will surelyshowkindnessto you for the sakeof your fatherJonathan,and will restoreto you allthe landof your grandfatherSaul;and you shall eatat my tableregularly."
He saidto him, "Saynowto her, 'Behold,you have beencarefulfor us with allthiscare;whatcan I dofor you? Wouldyou be spokenfor to the kingorto the captainof the army?'"And she answered,"I liveamongmy own people."
Now it cameabout afterthis,that Nahashthe kingof the sonsof Ammondied,and his sonbecamekingin his place.
But the princesof the sonsof Ammonsaidto Hanun,"Do you thinkthat Davidis honoringyour father,in that he has sentcomfortersto you? Have not his servantscometo you to searchand to overthrowand to spyout the land?"
On that daythey readaloud from the bookof Mosesin the hearingof the people;and there was foundwrittenin it that noAmmoniteor Moabiteshould everenterthe assemblyof God,
Now Tobiahthe Ammonite[was] nearhim and he said,"Evenwhatthey are building--ifa foxshould jumpon [it], he would breaktheir stonewalldown!"
