So Aḇram moved his tent, and went and dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamrĕ, which are in Ḥeḇron, and built a slaughter-place there to יהוה.


And these were the numbers of the chiefs of those that were armed for battle, and came to Dawiḏ at Ḥeḇron to turn over the reign of Sha’ul to him, according to the word of יהוה:


and Tsaḏoq, a young man, a mighty brave man, and from his father’s house twenty-two commanders;


and Tsor‛ah, and Ayalon, and Ḥeḇron, which are in Yehuḏah and Binyamin, cities of defence.


And they went up through the South and came to Ḥeḇron. And Aḥiman, Shĕshai, and Talmai, the descendants of Anaq, were there. Now Ḥeḇron had been built seven years before Tso‛an in Mitsrayim.


And Aḏoni-Tseḏeq sovereign of Yerushalayim sent to Hoham sovereign of Ḥeḇron, and to Piram sovereign of Yarmuth, and to Yaphiya sovereign of Laḵish, and to Deḇir sovereign of Eḡlon, saying,


and captured it on that day and struck it with the edge of the sword. And all the beings who were in it he put under the ban that day, according to all that he had done to Laḵish.


and captured it and struck it with the edge of the sword, and its sovereign, and all its cities, and all the people who were in it. He left no survivor, according to all that he had done to Eḡlon, but put it and all the people who were in it under the ban.


So the five sovereigns of the Amorites – the sovereign of Yerushalayim, the sovereign of Ḥeḇron, the sovereign of Yarmuth, the sovereign of Laḵish, the sovereign of Eḡlon – gathered together and went up, they and all their armies, and camped before Giḇ‛on and fought against it.


And to Kalĕḇ son of Yephunneh he gave a portion in the midst of the children of Yehuḏah, according to the mouth of יהוה to Yehoshua: Qiryath Arba, that is Ḥeḇron – Arba was the father of Anaq.


and Ḥumtah, and Qiryath Arba, that is Ḥeḇron, and Tsi‛or – nine cities with their villages.


But to the children of Aharon the priest they gave Ḥeḇron with its open land – a city of refuge for the man-slayer – and Liḇnah with its open land,


And Yehuḏah went against the Kena‛anites who dwelt in Ḥeḇron – now the name of Ḥeḇron was formerly Qiryath Arba – and they struck Shĕshai, and Aḥiman, and Talmai.


And they gave Ḥeḇron to Kalĕḇ, as Mosheh had said, and he drove out from there the three sons of Anaq.
