22 And they went up through the South and came to Ḥeḇron. And Aḥiman, Shĕshai, and Talmai, the descendants of Anaq, were there. Now Ḥeḇron had been built seven years before Tso‛an in Mitsrayim.

And Sarah died in Qiryath Arba, that is Ḥeḇron, in the land of Kena‛an, and Aḇraham came to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her.


And it came to be afterwards that Dawiḏ inquired of יהוה, saying, “Do I go up to any of the cities of Yehuḏah?” And יהוה said to him, “Go up.” And Dawiḏ said, “Where should I go up?” And He said, “To Ḥeḇron.”


And the time that Dawiḏ was sovereign in Ḥeḇron over the house of Yehuḏah was seven years and six new moons.


and Yishbo-Benoḇ – who was one of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose bronze spear was three hundred pieces, who was bearing a new sword – spoke of striking Dawiḏ.


He did wonders in the sight of their fathers, In the land of Mitsrayim, in the field of Tso‛an.


How He worked His signs in Mitsrayim, And His wonders in the field of Tso‛an.


The princes of Tso‛an are only fools; the counsel of Pharaoh’s wise ones has become senseless. How do you say to Pharaoh, “I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient sovereigns?”


The princes of Tso‛an have become fools, the princes of Noph are deceived. They, the corner-stone of her tribes, have led Mitsrayim astray.


“For his princes were at Tso‛an, and his messengers came to Ḥanes.


And Mosheh sent them to spy out the land of Kena‛an, and said to them, “Go up here into the South, and go up to the mountains,


“But the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are walled, very great. And we saw the descendants of Anaq there too.


And we saw there the Nephilim, sons of Anaq, of the Nephilim. And we were like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and so we were in their eyes.


a people great and tall, the descendants of the Anaqim, whom you know, and of whom you heard it said, ‘Who does stand before the descendants of Anaq?’


Then Yehoshua went up, and all Yisra’ĕl with him, from Eḡlon to Ḥeḇron, and they fought against it,


But to the children of Aharon the priest they gave Ḥeḇron with its open land – a city of refuge for the man-slayer – and Liḇnah with its open land,


And Yehuḏah went against the Kena‛anites who dwelt in Ḥeḇron – now the name of Ḥeḇron was formerly Qiryath Arba – and they struck Shĕshai, and Aḥiman, and Talmai.


and to those in Ḥeḇron, and to all the places where Dawiḏ had gone up and down, he and his men.
