and said to Moses, “You speak to us, and we will listen, but do not let God speak to us, lest we die.”
Moses went and told the people all the words of the Lord and all the ordinances, and all the people answered with one voice and said, “All the words that the Lord has spoken we will do.”
Then he took the book of the covenant and read it in the hearing of the people, and they said, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.”
The people believed, and when they heard that the Lord had given heed to the Israelites and that he had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshiped.
The people said to Joshua, “The Lord our God we will serve, and him we will obey.”
