They took an oath to the Lord with a loud voice and with shouting and with trumpets and with horns.


All Judah rejoiced over the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart and had sought him with their whole desire, and he was found by them, and the Lord gave them rest all around.


“Gather to me my faithful ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!”


The people all answered as one, “Everything that the Lord has spoken we will do.” Moses reported the words of the people to the Lord.


Moses alone shall come near the Lord, but the others shall not come near, and the people shall not come up with him.”


Then he took the book of the covenant and read it in the hearing of the people, and they said, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.”


which I commanded your ancestors when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the iron smelter, saying, ‘Listen to my voice, and do all that I command you. So shall you be my people, and I will be your God,


Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: I myself made a covenant with your ancestors when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, saying,


according to the promise that I made you when you came out of Egypt. My spirit abides among you; do not fear.


Have we not all one father? Has not one God created us? Why then are we faithless to one another, profaning the covenant of our ancestors?


“You shall love the Lord your God, therefore, and keep his charge, his decrees, his ordinances, and his commandments always.


“So now, Israel, give heed to the statutes and ordinances that I am teaching you to observe, so that you may live to enter and occupy the land that the Lord, the God of your ancestors, is giving you.


These are the decrees and the statutes and ordinances that Moses spoke to the Israelites when they had come out of Egypt,


“See, just as the Lord my God has charged me, I now teach you statutes and ordinances for you to observe in the land that you are about to enter and occupy.


Moses convened all Israel and said to them: “Hear, O Israel, the statutes and ordinances that I am addressing to you today; you shall learn them and observe them diligently.


But you, stand here by me, and I will tell you all the commandments, the statutes and the ordinances, that you shall teach them, so that they may do them in the land that I am giving them to possess.’


“Now this is the commandment—the statutes and the ordinances—that the Lord your God charged me to teach you to observe in the land that you are about to cross into and occupy,


And the people said to Joshua, “No, we will serve the Lord!”


Then Joshua said to the people, “You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen the Lord, to serve him.” And they said, “We are witnesses.”


The people said to Joshua, “The Lord our God we will serve, and him we will obey.”
