He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God; he stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning to the Lord, the God of Israel.


And you warned them in order to turn them back to your law, yet they acted presumptuously and did not obey your commandments but sinned against your ordinances, by the observance of which a person shall live. They turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck and would not obey.

Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey, but I will not go up among you, or I would consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.”


One who is often reproved, yet remains stubborn, will suddenly be broken beyond healing.


Because I know that you are obstinate, and your neck is an iron sinew and your forehead brass,


And I thought, “After she has done all this she will return to me,” but she did not return, and her false sister Judah saw it.


“Every seventh year each of you must set free any Hebrews who have been sold to you and have served you six years; you must set them free from your service.” But your ancestors did not listen to me or incline their ears to me.


yet they did not listen to me or pay attention, but they stiffened their necks. They did worse than their ancestors did.


Mortal, you are living in the midst of a rebellious house who have eyes to see but do not see, who have ears to hear but do not hear,


He said to me, “Mortal, I am sending you to the people of Israel, to a nation of rebels who have rebelled against me; they and their ancestors have transgressed against me to this very day.


But if you warn the wicked and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their wicked way, they shall die for their iniquity, but you will have saved your life.


But when his heart was lifted up and his spirit was hardened so that he acted proudly, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and his glory was stripped from him.


The more I called them, the more they went from me; they kept sacrificing to the Baals and offering incense to idols.


“You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you are forever opposing the Holy Spirit, just as your ancestors used to do.


But in spite of this, you have no trust in the Lord your God,


For I know well how rebellious and stubborn you are. If you already have been so rebellious toward the Lord while I am still alive among you, how much more after my death!


Furthermore, the Lord said to me, ‘I have seen that this people is indeed a stubborn people.


Take care, brothers and sisters, that none of you may have an evil, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
