My son, do not walk in the way with them, Keep your foot from their path;
My son, if you accept my words, And treasure up my commands with you,
Listen to your father who brought you forth, And do not despise your mother when she is old.
My son, do not forget my Torah, And let your heart watch over my commands;
An eye that mocks his father, And scorns to obey his mother – Ravens of the wadi dig it out, And young eagles eat it!
The words of Sovereign Lemu’ĕl, a message which his mother taught him:
“And I have not heeded the voice of my teachers, And I have not inclined my ear to those who instructed me!
My son, watch over your father’s command, And do not forsake the Torah of your mother.
“So we obeyed the voice of Yonaḏaḇ son of Rĕḵaḇ, our father, in all that he commanded us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, and our daughters,
‘Each one of you should fear his mother and his father, and guard My Sabbaths. I am יהוה your Elohim.
And see, they were bringing to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. And יהושע, seeing their belief, said to the paralytic, “Take courage, son, your sins have been forgiven.”
But יהושע turned, and when He saw her He said, “Take courage, daughter, your belief has healed you.” And the woman was healed from that hour.
For I recollect the sincere belief which is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunike, and I am persuaded is in you too.
And she went down to the threshing-floor and did according to all that her mother-in-law commanded her.
“If one man sins against another, Elohim shall judge him. But if a man sins against יהוה, who shall pray for him?” But they did not listen to the voice of their father, though יהוה was pleased to put them to death.
