Now Yosĕph said to them the third day, “Do this and live, for I fear Elohim:
But the former governors who were before me laid burdens on the people, and took from them bread and wine, besides forty sheqels of silver. Their servants also oppressed the people, but I did not do so, because of the fear of Elohim.
Rĕsh The fear of יהוה is the beginning of wisdom, Shin All those doing them have a good understanding. Taw His praise is standing forever.
‘Do no unrighteousness in right-ruling. Do not be partial to the poor or favour the face of the great, but rightly rule your neighbour in righteousness.
‘Rise up before the grey-headed. And you shall favour the face of an old man, and shall fear your Elohim. I am יהוה.
‘And do not oppress one another, but you shall fear your Elohim. For I am יהוה your Elohim.
Therefore let us not judge one another any longer, but rather judge this, not to put an obstacle or a stumbling-block in our brother’s way.
Cause no stumbling, either to the Yehuḏim or to the Greeks or to the assembly of Elohim,
Cursed is he who misleads the blind in the way.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amĕn!’
And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, pass the time of your sojourning in fear,
Respect all, love the brotherhood, fear Elohim, respect the sovereign.
“But I hold a few matters against you, because you have there those who adhere to the teaching of Bil‛am, who taught Balaq to put a stumbling-block before the children of Yisra’ĕl, to eat food offered to idols, and to commit whoring.
