And Dawiḏ slept with his fathers, and was buried in the City of Dawiḏ.
He loosens the bonds of sovereigns, and binds a girdle on their loins;
But he dwells in ruined cities, in houses which no one lives in, which have been ready to become heaps.
For I have known that You bring me to death, and to the house of appointment for all living.
Like sheep they shall be laid in She’ol; Death shall shepherd them; And the upright rule over them in the morning; And their form is consumed in She’ol, Far from their dwelling.
What man would live and not see death? Who rescues his life from the power of She’ol? Selah.
No one has power over the spirit to retain the spirit, and no one has power in the day of death. There is no discharge in battle, and wrongness does not release those who are given to it.
“All the sovereigns of the nations, all of them, were laid in esteem, everyone in his own house;
What have you here, and whom have you here, that you have hewn a burial-site here, as he who hews himself a burial-site on high, inscribing a resting place for himself in a rock?
Woe to those who join house to house, who add field to field, until there is no room, and you are made to dwell alone in the midst of the land!
“And those from among you shall build the old waste places. You shall raise up the foundations of many generations. And you would be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.
then I shall bring you down with those who go down into the pit, to the people of old. And I shall make you dwell in the lowest part of the earth, in wastes of old, with those who go to the pit, so that you do not return. But I shall establish splendour in the land of the living.
