Now Yosĕph said to them the third day, “Do this and live, for I fear Elohim:


However, the sovereign’s word was strong towards Yo’aḇ and against the commanders of the army. And Yo’aḇ and the commanders of the army went out from the presence of the sovereign to register the people of Yisra’ĕl.


But the former governors who were before me laid burdens on the people, and took from them bread and wine, besides forty sheqels of silver. Their servants also oppressed the people, but I did not do so, because of the fear of Elohim.


And the sovereign’s servants who were in the sovereign’s gate said to Mordeḵai, “Why do you disobey the sovereign’s command?”


How great is Your goodness, Which You have laid up for those fearing You, Which You have prepared for those taking refuge in You In the sight of the sons of men!


So the sovereign of Mitsrayim called for the midwives and said to them, “Why have you done this, and kept the male children alive?”


And it came to be, because the midwives feared Elohim, that He provided households for them.


By loving-commitment and truth crookedness is pardoned. And in the fear of יהוה one turns away from evil.


“The fear of יהוה is to hate evil. I have hated pride and arrogance, And the evil way, And the perverse mouth.


Let us hear the conclusion of the entire matter: Fear Elohim and guard His commands, for this applies to all mankind!


Although a sinner is doing evil a hundred times, and his life is prolonged, yet I know that there is good to those who fear Elohim, who fear before Him.


Then they answered and said before the sovereign, “Dani’ĕl, who is one of the sons of the exile from Yehuḏah, pays no heed to you, O sovereign, nor for the interdict that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day.”


“Ephrayim is oppressed, crushed in judgment, because he walked after the command when it pleased him.


“For the laws of Omri are strictly observed, and all the works of the house of Aḥab, and you walk in their counsels. Therefore I give you for a ruin, and your inhabitants for a hissing, and let you bear the reproach of My people.”


“And do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the being. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both being and body in GĕHinnom.


But I shall show you whom you should fear: Fear the One who, after killing, possesses authority to cast into GĕHinnom. Yes, I say to you, fear Him!”


And Kĕpha and the other emissaries answering, said, “We have to obey Elohim rather than men.


The sovereign then said to the guards who stood about him, “Turn and put the priests of יהוה to death, because their hand also is with Dawiḏ, and because they knew when he fled and did not reveal it to me.” But the servants of the sovereign would not lift their hands to come against the priests of יהוה.
