And the sovereign of Yisra’ĕl and Yehoshaphat the sovereign of Yehuḏah went up to Ramoth Gil‛aḏ.
Ben-Geḇer, in Ramoth Gil‛aḏ, the towns of Ya’ir son of Menashsheh in Gil‛aḏ were his; the portion of Argoḇ in Bashan, sixty large cities with walls and bronze gate-bars, were his;
And he went and sent to Yehoshaphat sovereign of Yehuḏah, saying, “The sovereign of Mo’aḇ has revolted against me. Do you go with me to fight against Mo’aḇ?” And he said, “I go up. I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.”
And on the next day it came to be that he took a thick cloth and dipped it in water, and spread it over his face so that he died. And Ḥaza’ĕl reigned in his place.
And Sovereign Yoram went back to Yizre‛ĕl to recover from the wounds with which the Arameans had stricken him at Ramah, when he fought against Ḥaza’ĕl sovereign of Aram. Then Aḥazyahu son of Yehoram, the sovereign of Yehuḏah, went down to see Yoram son of Aḥaḇ in Yizre‛ĕl, for he was sick.
And Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets, and said to him, “Gird your loins and take this flask of oil in your hand, and go to Ramoth Gil‛aḏ.
Thus Yĕhu son of Yehoshaphat, son of Nimshi, conspired against Yoram – now Yoram had been guarding Ramoth Gil‛aḏ, he and all Yisra’ĕl, against Ḥaza’ĕl sovereign of Aram.
But Sovereign Yehoram had returned to Yizre‛ĕl to recover from the wounds with which the Arameans had stricken him when he fought with Ḥaza’ĕl sovereign of Aram – Yĕhu now said, “If this is your desire, let no one leave or escape from the city to go and make it known in Yizre‛ĕl!”
And Yĕhu rode in a chariot and went to Yizre‛ĕl, for Yoram was laid up there. And Aḥazyah sovereign of Yehuḏah had come down to see Yoram.
And it came to be, when the commanders of the chariots saw Yehoshaphat, that they said, “It is the sovereign of Yisra’ĕl!” So they turned around to fight against him, and Yehoshaphat cried out, and יהוה helped him, and Elohim moved them to turn away from him.
And Yĕhu son of Ḥanani the seer went out to face him, and said to Sovereign Yehoshaphat, “Do you help the wrong and love those who hate יהוה? Therefore the wrath of יהוה is upon you.
He also walked in their counsel, and went with Yehoram son of Aḥaḇ sovereign of Yisra’ĕl to fight against Ḥaza’ĕl sovereign of Aram at Ramoth Gil‛ad. And the Arameans struck Yoram,
And beyond the Yardĕn, by Yeriḥo eastward, they appointed Betser in the wilderness on the plain, from the tribe of Re’uḇĕn, and Ramoth in Gil‛aḏ, from the tribe of Gaḏ, and Golan in Bashan, from the tribe of Menashsheh.
And from the tribe of Gaḏ, Ramoth in Gil‛aḏ with its open land as a city of refuge for the man-slayer, and Maḥanayim with its open land,
