Then the fire of יהוה fell and consumed the ascending offering, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench.
And Ěliyahu answered and said to the captain of fifty, “And if I am a man of Elohim, let fire come down from the heavens and consume you and your fifty men.” And fire came down from the heavens and consumed him and his fifty.
And it came to be, as they continued on and spoke, that see, a chariot of fire with horses of fire which separated the two of them. And Ěliyahu went up by a whirlwind into the heavens.
See, no fear of me should alarm you, nor should pressure by me be heavy on you.
It stood still, but I could not discern its appearance. A form was before my eyes – silence, then a voice I heard,
And the Messenger of יהוה appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. And he looked and saw the bush burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed.

And suddenly there came a sound from the heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
“Therefore, diligently guard yourselves, for you saw no form when יהוה spoke to you at Ḥorĕḇ out of the midst of the fire,
Has a people heard the voice of Elohim speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and live?”
