and it yieldeth much increase unto the kings whom thou hast set over us because of our sins: also they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress.


They grope in the dark without light, And he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.


They meet with darkness in the daytime, And grope in the noonday as in the night.


And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.


We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noon day as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.


For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out.


They have wandered as blind men in the streets, They have polluted themselves with blood, So that men could not touch Their garments.


For this our heart is faint; For these things our eyes are dim.


Servants have ruled over us: There is none that doth deliver us out of their hand.


And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.

So the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.
