Everyone utters lies to his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.


His speech was smooth as butter, yet war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.


What is desired in a man is steadfast love, and a poor man is better than a liar.


Like the glaze covering an earthen vessel are fervent lips with an evil heart.


Whoever hates disguises himself with his lips and harbors deceit in his heart;


when he speaks graciously, believe him not, for there are seven abominations in his heart;


And as for the two kings, their hearts shall be bent on doing evil. They shall speak lies at the same table, but to no avail, for the end is yet to be at the time appointed.


Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.”


And she said to him, “How can you say, ‘I love you,’ when your heart is not with me? You have mocked me these three times, and you have not told me where your great strength lies.”
