And she said to her father, “Let not my lord be angry that I cannot rise before you, for the way of women is upon me.” So he searched but did not find the household gods.

So Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him on behalf of Adonijah. And the king rose to meet her and bowed down to her. Then he sat on his throne and had a seat brought for the king’s mother, and she sat on his right.


but you shall fear the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt with great power and with an outstretched arm. You shall bow yourselves to him, and to him you shall sacrifice.


Now Elihu had waited to speak to Job because they were older than he.


And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said: “I am young in years, and you are aged; therefore I was timid and afraid to declare my opinion to you.


Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life.


The glory of young men is their strength, but the splendor of old men is their gray hair.


Listen to your father who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old.


And the people will oppress one another, every one his fellow and every one his neighbor; the youth will be insolent to the elder, and the despised to the honorable.


Princes are hung up by their hands; no respect is shown to the elders.


You shall not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block before the blind, but you shall fear your God: I am the Lord.


Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.


Do not rebuke an older man but encourage him as you would a father, younger men as brothers,


Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.
