38 After these things Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took away his body.

Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue;


Yet for fear of the Jews no one spoke openly of him.


(His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone should confess Jesus to be Christ, he was to be put out of the synagogue.)


And when they had carried out all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb.


And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
