When he is quiet, who can condemn? When he hides his face, who can behold him, whether it be a nation or a man?—


I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.


For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name.


It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”


They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion, and they shall be radiant over the goodness of the Lord, over the grain, the wine, and the oil, and over the young of the flock and the herd; their life shall be like a watered garden, and they shall languish no more.


So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.


but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”


But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish.


‘I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.


And while they still disbelieved for joy and were marveling, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?”


“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.


Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.


Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.


“A little while, and you will see me no longer; and again a little while, and you will see me.”


Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy.


But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.


That disciple whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea.


but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”


And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.


About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them,


And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts,


Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name.


as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything.


Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,


For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one.


so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us.


Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory,
