But David took the castle of Sion. The same is the city of David.


And David dwelt in the castle, and called it, The city of David: and built round about from Mello and inwards.


So Helcias the priest, and Ahicam, and Achobor, and Saphan, and Asaia, went to Holda the prophetess the wife of Sellum the son of Thecua, the son of Araas keeper of the wardrobe, who dwelt in Jerusalem in the Second: and they spoke to her.


And Solomon began to build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem, in mount Moria, which had been shewn to David his father, in the place which David had prepared in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.


And the Lord saved Ezechias and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of the hand of Sennacherib king of the Assyrians, and out of the hand of all, and gave them treasures on every side.


After this he built a wall without the city of David, on the west side of Gihon in the valley, from the entering in of the fish gate round about to Ophel, and raised it up to a great height. And he appointed captains of the army in all the fenced cities of Juda.


And Helcias and they that were sent with him by the king went to Olda the prophetess, the wife of Sellum the son of Thecuath, the son of Hasra keeper of the wardrobe, who dwelt in Jerusalem in the Second part: and they spoke to her the words above mentioned.


And the two choirs of them that gave praise stood still at the house of God: and I and the half of the magistrates with me.


But the fish gate the sons of Asnaa built: they covered it, and set up the doors thereof, and the locks, and the bars. And next to them built Marimuth the son of Urias the son of Accus.


We shall roar all of us like bears and shall lament as mournful doves. We have looked for judgment; and there is none: for salvation; and it is far from us.


And in the eleventh year of Sedecias, in the fourth month, the fifth day of the month, the city was opened.


For I have heard the voice as of a woman in travail, anguishes as of a woman in labor of a child. The voice of the daughter of Sion, dying away, spreading her hands: Woe is me, for my soul hath fainted because of them that are slain.


And you shall know that I am the Lord, when your slain shall be amongst your idols, round about your altars, in every high hill, and on all the tops of mountains and under every woody tree and under every thick oak, the place where they burnt sweet smelling frankincense to all their idols.


And the hinges of the temple shall screak in that day, saith the Lord God: many shall die: silence shall be cast in every place.


That day is a day of wrath, a day of tribulation and distress, a day of calamity and misery, a day of darkness and obscurity, a day of clouds and whirlwinds,


Be silent before the face of the Lord God: for the day of the Lord is near, for the Lord hath prepared a victim, he hath sanctified his guests.
