The sceptre shall not be taken away from Juda, nor a ruler from his thigh, till he come that is to be sent: and he shall be the expectation of nations.


And there were some of Manasses that went over to David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to fight. But he did not fight with them: because the lords of the Philistines taking counsel sent him back, saying: With the danger of our heads he will return to his master Saul.


And on the other side of the Jordan of the sons of Ruben, and of Gad, and of the half of the tribe of Manasses, a hundred and twenty thousand, furnished with arms for war.


When he is judged, may he go out condemned; and may his prayer be turned to sin.


His beauty as of the firstling of a bullock, his horns as the horns of a rhinoceros: with them shall he push the nations even to the ends of the earth. These are the multitudes of Ephraim; and these the thousands of Manasses.


And half Galaad, and Astaroth, and Edrai, cities of the kingdom of Og in Basan: to the children of Machir, the son of Manasses, to one half of the children of Machir according to their kindreds.


And this lot fell to the tribe of Manasses (for he is the firstborn of Joseph), to Machir the firstborn of Manasses the father of Galaad, who was a warlike man, and had for possession Galaad and Basan.


And David said to Achis: Now thou shalt know what thy servant will do. And Achis said to David: And I will appoint thee to guard my life for ever.
