She called to her the men of her house, and said to them: See, he hath brought in a Hebrew, to abuse us. He came in to me, to lie with me: and when I cried out,


And after many days his mistress cast her eyes on Joseph, and said: Lie with me.


She lieth in wait in the way as a robber, and him whom she shall see unwary, she will kill.


A man that loveth wisdom, rejoiceth his father: but he that maintaineth bar lots, shall squander away his substance.


Corrupt men bring a city to ruin: but wise men turn away wrath.


Lest strangers be filled with thy strength, and thy labours be in another man's house,


Give not thy honour to strangers, and thy years to the cruel.


Can a man hide fire in his bosom, and his garments not burn?


Till the arrow pierce his liver: as if a bird should make haste to the snare, and knoweth not that his life is in danger.


And say: Thus saith the Lord God: Woe to them that sew cushions under every elbow and make pillows for the heads of persons of every age to catch souls: and when they caught the souls of my people, they gave life to their souls.


Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Because you have spoken vain things and have seen lies, therefore, behold, I come against you, saith the Lord God.


But as soon as this thy son is come, who hath devoured his substance with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.


And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall remain in thy house shall come that he may be prayed for; and shall offer a piece of silver, and a roll of bread; and shall say: Put me, I beseech thee, to somewhat of the priestly office, that I may eat a morsel of bread.
