And if thou think that battles consist in the strength of the army, God will make thee to be overcome by the enemies: for it belongeth to God both to help, and to put to flight.


Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and strengthen me with a perfect spirit.


sing ye a psalm to his name; give glory to his praise.


That struck the people in wrath with an incurable wound, that brought nations under in fury, that persecuted in a cruel manner.


And the multitude of all nations that have fought against Ariel shall be as the dream of a vision by night, and all that have fought, and besieged and prevailed against it.


And as he that is hungry dreameth and eateth, but when he is awake, his soul is empty: and as he that is thirsty dreameth and drinketh, and after he is awake is yet faint with thirst, and his soul is empty: so shall be the multitude of all the Gentiles that have fought against mount Sion.


How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings and that preacheth peace, of him that sheweth forth good, that preacheth salvation, that saith to Sion: Thy God shall reign!


Behold, I will send, and take all the kindreds of the north, saith the Lord, and Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon my servant: and I will bring them against this land and against the inhabitants thereof and against all the nations that are round about it: and I will destroy them and make them an astonishment and a hissing and perpetual desolations.


How is the hammer of the whole earth broken, and destroyed! How is Babylon turned into a desert among the nations!
