The Lord is thy keeper, the Lord is thy protection upon thy right hand.


Many men are called merciful: but who shall find a faithful man?


And the fruit thereof that shall be left upon it shall be as one cluster of grapes, and as the shaking of the olive-tree, two or three berries in the top of a bough, or four or five upon the top of the tree, saith the Lord the God of Israel.


For it shall be thus in the midst of the earth, in the midst of the people, as if a few olives, that remain should be shaken out of the olive-tree: or grapes, when the vintage is ended.


From the ends of the earth we have heard praises, the glory of the just one. And I said: My secret to myself, my secret to myself. Woe is me! The prevaricators have prevaricated: and with the prevarication of transgressors they have prevaricated.


And the fading flower, the glory of his joy, who is on the head of the fat valley, shall be as a hasty fruit before the ripeness of autumn: which when he that seeth it shall behold, as soon as he taketh it in his hand, he will eat it up.


And I said: Woe is me, because I have held my peace; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people that hath unclean lips, and I have seen with my eyes the King the Lord of hosts.


Woe is me, my mother! Why hast thou borne me, a man of strife, a man of contention to all the earth? I have not lent on usury, neither hath any man lent to me on usury: yet all curse me.


One basket had very good figs, like the figs of the first season: and the other basket had very bad figs, which could not be eaten, because they were bad.


For I have heard the voice as of a woman in travail, anguishes as of a woman in labor of a child. The voice of the daughter of Sion, dying away, spreading her hands: Woe is me, for my soul hath fainted because of them that are slain.


Thou hast said: Woe is me, wretch that I am, for the Lord hath added sorrow to my sorrow! I am wearied with my groans and I find no rest.


Go about through the streets of Jerusalem, and see and consider, and seek in the broad places thereof, if you can find a man that executeth judgement and seeketh faith: and I will be merciful unto it.


I found Israel like grapes in the desert, I saw their fathers like the firstfruits of the fig tree in the top thereof: but they went in to Beelphegor, and alienated themselves to that confusion, and became abominable, as those things were, which they loved.


All the first ripe of the fruits, that the ground bringeth forth, and which are brought to the Lord, shall be for thy use. He that is clean in thy house shall eat them.
