CRY, cease not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their wicked doings and the house of Jacob their sins.


The priests did not say: Where is the Lord? And they that held the law knew me not, and the pastors transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied in Baal and followed idols.


But thou, Phassur, and all that dwell in thy house, shall go into captivity. And thou shalt go to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and there thou shalt be buried, thou and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied a lie.


If they stood in my counsel and had made my words known to my people, I should have turned them from their evil way and from their wicked doings.


And the burden of the Lord shall be mentioned no more, for every man's word shall be his burden: for you have perverted the words of the living God, of the Lord of hosts our God.


And Jeremias the prophet said to Hananias the prophet: Hear now, Hananias: the Lord hath not sent thee, and thou hast made this people to trust in a lie.


Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to Achab the son of Colias and to Sedecias the son of Maasias, who prophesy unto you in my name falsely: Behold, I will deliver them up into the hands of Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon. And he shall kill them before your eyes.


Now therefore hear, I beseech thee, my lord the king. Let my petition be accepted in thy sight: and send me not back into the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.


The prophets prophesied falsehood, and the priests clapped their hands: and my people loved such things. What then shall be done in the end thereof?


Mem. For the sins of her prophets and the iniquities of her priests that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her.


Because with lies you have made the heart of the just to mourn, whom I have not made sorrowful: and have strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his evil way and live.


There is a conspiracy of prophets in the midst thereof: like a lion that roareth and catcheth the prey, they have devoured souls, they have taken riches and hire, they have made many widows in the midst thereof.


And her prophets have daubed them without tempering the mortar, seeing vain things and divining lies unto them, saying: Thus saith the Lord God: when the Lord hath not spoken.


And the Lord spoke to me, saying: Son of man, dost thou judge Oolla and Ooliba, and dost thou declare to them their wicked deeds?


The days of visitation are come, the days of repaying are come: know ye, O Israel, that the prophet was foolish, the spiritual man was mad, for the multitude of thy iniquity, and the multitude of thy madness.


Would God I were not a man that hath the spirit, and that I rather spoke a lie: I will let drop to thee of wine, and of drunkenness: and it shall be this people upon whom it shall drop.


But yet I am filled with the strength of the spirit of the Lord, with judgment, and power: to declare unto Jacob his wickedness, and to Israel his sin.


Her prophets are senseless men without faith: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have acted unjustly against the law.
