And Abner cried out to Joab, and said: Shall thy sword rage unto utter destruction? Knowest thou not that it is dangerous to drive people to despair? How long dost thou defer to bid the people cease from pursuing after their brethren?


And the Lord commanded the angel: and he put up his sword again into the sheath.


At the brightness that was before him the clouds passed, hail and coals of fire.


Shall the axe boast itself against him that cutteth with it? Or shall the saw exalt itself against him by whom it is drawn? As if a rod should lift itself up against him that lifteth it up, and a staff exalt itself, which is but wood.


Woe to the Assyrian: he is the rod and the staff of my anger, and my indignation is in their hands.


The spoilers are come upon all the ways of the wilderness, for the sword of the Lord shall devour from one end of the land to the other end thereof: there is no peace for all flesh.


How long shall the land mourn and the herb of every field wither for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? The beasts and the birds are consumed: because they have said: He shall not see our last end.


And I will visit them with four kinds, saith the Lord: The sword to kill, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the air and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy.


And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Drink ye, and be drunken and vomit: and fall and rise no more, because of the sword which I shall send among you.


How long shall I see men fleeing away? How long shall I hear the sound of the trumpet?


Cursed be he that doth the work of the Lord deceitfully: and cursed be he that withholdeth his sword from blood.


A sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith the Lord, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon and upon her princes, and upon her wise men.


Or, if I bring the sword upon that land and say to the sword: Pass through the land: and I destroy man and beast out of it:


Return into thy sheath. I will judge thee in the place wherein thou wast created, in the land of thy nativity.


Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that cleaveth to me, saith the Lord of hosts: strike the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn my hand to the little ones.


Jesus therefore said to Peter: Put up thy sword into the scabbard. The chalice which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?


And when they sounded their trumpets in three places round about the camp, and had broken their pitchers, they held their lamps in their left hands, and with their right hands the trumpets which they blew: and they cried out: The sword of the Lord and of Gedeon:
