And I went to the Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle out of the place where I had hid it: and behold, the girdle was rotten, so that it was fit for no use.


For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the Lord. It shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.


One basket had very good figs, like the figs of the first season: and the other basket had very bad figs, which could not be eaten, because they were bad.


Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel: Like these good figs, so will I regard the captives of Juda, whom I have sent forth out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans, for their good.


Now when the army of the Chaldeans was gone away from Jerusalem, because of Pharao's army,


And Jeremias said to king Sedecias: In what way have I offended against thee or thy servants or thy people, that thou hast cast me into prison?


And it came to pass, that when Jeremias had made an end of speaking to the people all the words of the Lord their God, for which the Lord their God had sent him to them, all these words:


The word that came to Jeremias, concerning all the Jews that dwelt in the land of Egypt, dwelling in Magdal and in Taphnis and in Memphis and in the land of Phatures, saying:
