He made two chapiters of molten brass, to be set upon the tops of the pillars (the height of one chapiter was five cubits, and the height of the other chapiter was five cubits),


And the gate of the fountain Sellum the son of Cholhoza built, lord of the street of Maspha: he built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, and the locks, and the bars, and the walls of the pool of Siloe unto the king's garden, and unto the steps that go down from the city of David.


He hath subdued the people under us; and the nations under our feet.


But if you will not, and will provoke me to wrath: the sword shall devour you because the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.


Behold, the Lord is mighty and strong, as a storm of hail: a destroying whirlwind, as the violence of many waters overflowing, and sent forth upon a spacious land.


Therefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel: Because you have rejected this word and have trusted in oppression and tumult and have leaned upon it:


Therefore, as the tongue of the fire devoureth the stubble, and the heat of the flame consumeth it: so shall their root be as ashes, and their bud shall go up as dust: for they have cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and have blasphemed the word of the Holy One of Israel.


And thou shalt say to him: See thou be quiet: fear not, and let not thy heart be afraid of the two tails of these firebrands, smoking with the wrath of the fury of Rasin king of Syria, and of the son of Romelia.


Let us go up to Juda, and rouse it up, and draw it away to us, and make the son of Tabeel king in the midst thereof.


And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria the son of Romelia. If you will not believe, you shall not continue.


And the Lord spoke to me again, saying:


Shall now the snow of Libanus fail from the rock of the field? Or can the cold waters that gush out and run down be taken away?


For my people have done two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living water, and have digged to themselves cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.


And now what hast thou to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the troubled water? And what hast thou to do with the way of the Assyrians, to drink the water of the river?


Or those eighteen upon whom the tower fell in Siloe, and slew them: think you, that they also were debtors above all the men that dwelt in Jerusalem?


And said to him: Go, wash in the pool of Siloe, which is interpreted, Sent. He went therefore, and washed, and he came seeing.
