And finding out a device he made two golden calves, and said to them: Go ye up no more to Jerusalem: Behold thy gods, O Israel, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt.


Canst thou bind the rhinoceros with thy thong to plough, or will he break the clods of the valleys after thee?


Therefore saith the Lord the God of hosts, the mighty one of Israel: Ah! I will comfort myself over my adversaries: and I will be revenged of my enemies.


Thou hast forsaken me, saith the Lord, thou art gone backward: and I will stretch out my hand against thee, and I will destroy thee. I am weary of entreating thee.


Behold, I will send many fishers, saith the Lord, and they shall fish them: and after this, I will send them many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain and from every hill and out of the holes of the rocks.


Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel: Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, and with which you fight against the king of Babylon and the Chaldeans that besiege you round about the walls: and I will gather them together in the midst of this city.


Behold, I will gather together all thy lovers with whom thou hast taken pleasure and all whom thou hast loved with all whom thou hast hated: and I will gather them together against thee on every side and will discover thy shame in their sight: and they shall see all thy nakedness.


And my indignation shall rest in thee and my jealousy shall depart from thee: and I will cease and be angry no more.


For thus saith the Lord God: Bring a multitude upon them and deliver them over to tumult and rapine:


Therefore have I delivered her into the hands of her lovers, into the hands of the sons of the Assyrians, upon whose lust she doted.


And I will accomplish my fury and will cause my indignation to rest upon them, and I will be comforted: and they shall know that I the Lord have spoken it in my zeal, when I shall have accomplished my indignation in them.


From the days of Gabaa, Israel hath sinned, there they stood: the battle in Gabaa against the children of iniquity shall not overtake them.


The wind hath bound them up in its wings, and they shall be confounded because of their sacrifices.


And there shall be like people like priest: and I will visit their ways upon them, and I will repay them their devices.


Let there be a trumpet in thy throat like an eagle upon the house of the Lord: because they have transgressed my covenant, and have violated my law.


But even though they shall have hired the nations, now will I gather them together: and they shall rest a while from the burden of the king, and the princes.


But when the king had heard of it, he was angry, and sending his armies, he destroyed those murderers, and burnt their city.


And as the Lord rejoiced upon you before, doing good to you, and multiplying you: so he shall rejoice destroying and bringing you to nought, so that you shall be taken away from the land which thou shalt go in to possess.
