And said: The land is before you; dwell wheresoever it shall please thee.


And bring away from thence your father and kindred, and come to me: and I will give you all the good things of Egypt, that you may eat the marrow of the land.


Give orders also that they take wagons out of the land of Egypt, for the carriage of their children and their wives. And say: Take up your father, and make haste to come with all speed.


And the sons of Israel did as they were bid. And Joseph gave them wagons according to Pharao's commandment: and provisions for the way.


The land of Egypt is before thee: make them dwell in the best place, and give them the land of Gessen. And if thou knowest that there are industrious men among them, make them rulers over my cattle.


Now therefore give not your daughters to their sons: and take not their daughters for your sons. And seek not their peace, nor their prosperity forever: that you may be strengthened, and may eat the good things of the land, and may have your children your heirs for ever.


If a man deliver money, or any vessel unto his friend to keep, and they be stolen away from him that received them: if the thief be found he shall restore double.


If you be willing, and will hearken to me, you shall eat the good things of the land.


But with their arrows they shall kill the children, and shall have no pity upon the sucklings of the womb: and their eye shall not spare their sons.


Yet my eye spared them, so that I destroyed them not: neither did I consume them in the desert.


And my eye shall not spare thee, and I will shew thee no pity: but I will lay thy ways upon thee, and thy abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and you shall know that I am the Lord.


And my eye shall not spare, neither will I shew mercy: but I will lay thy ways upon thee, and thy abominations shall be in the midst of thee. And you shall know that I am the Lord that strike.


And to the others he said in my hearing: Go ye after him through the city and strike: let not your eyes spare nor be ye moved with pity.


And he that is on the housetop, let him not come down to take any thing out of his house:


In that hour, he that shall be on the housetop, and his goods in the house, let him not go down to take them away: and he that shall be in the field, in like manner, let him not return back.


Thou shalt not pity him, and thou shalt take away the guilt of innocent blood out of Israel, that it may be well with thee.


Thou shalt not pity him: but shalt require life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.


Thou shalt consume all the people, which the Lord thy God will deliver to thee. Thy eye shall not spare them: neither shalt thou serve their gods, lest they be thy ruin.


Israel hath sinned, and transgressed my covenant: and they have taken of the anathema, and have stolen and lied, and have hidden it among their goods.


And after this they consulted the Lord whether he would come thither. And the Lord answered: Behold, he is hidden at home.


Then David said to his young men: Let every man gird on his sword. And they girded on every man his sword. And David also girded on his sword: and there followed David about four hundred men. And two hundred remained with the baggage.


And no man shall hearken to you in this matter. But equal shall be the portion of him that went down to battle and of him that abode at the baggage; and they shall divide alike.
