And the seven lean and thin kine that came up after them, and the seven thin ears that were blasted with the burning wind, are seven years of famine to come.


And the greatness of the scarcity shall destroy the greatness of the plenty.


And he called the name of the first born Manasses, saying: God hath made me to forget all my labours, and my father's house.


The seven years of scarcity, which Joseph had foretold, began to come: and the famine prevailed in the whole world. But there was bread in all the land of Egypt.


And the famine increased daily in all the land. And Joseph opened all the barns, and sold to the Egyptians: for the famine had oppressed them also.


For in the whole world there was want of bread, and a famine had oppressed the land: more especially of Egypt and Chanaan.

Now therefore deliberate, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.


And Elias the Thesbite of the inhabitants of Galaad said to Achab: As the Lord liveth, the God of Israel, in whose sight I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to the words of my mouth.


And Eliseus spoke to the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying: Arise, and go thou and thy household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst find. For the Lord hath called a famine, and it shall come upon the land seven years.


And they provoked Moses in the camp, Aaron the holy one of the Lord.


Let them drink, and forget their want, and remember their sorrow no more.


In which he that is blessed upon the earth shall be blessed in God, Amen; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by God, Amen: because the former distresses are forgotten and because they are hid from my eyes.


In truth I say to you, there were many widows in the days of Elias in Israel, when heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there was a great famine throughout all the earth.


Elias was a man passible like unto us: and with prayer he prayed that it might not rain upon the earth, and it rained not for three years and six months.
