And the limits of Chanaan were from Sidon as one comes to Gerara even to Gaza, until thou enter Sodom and Gomorrha, and Adama, and Seboim even to Lesa.


And Abram went forward, going and proceeding on to the south.


And Abram went up out of Egypt: he and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.


And they returned, and came to the fountain of Misphat, the same is Cades: and they smote all the country of the Amalecites, and the Amorrhean that dwelt in Asasonthamar.


Now Sarai, the wife of Abram, had brought forth no children; but having a handmaid, an Egyptian, named Agar,


Therefore she called that well: The well of him that liveth and seeth me. The same is between Cades and Bared.


And the angel of the Lord having found her, by a fountain of water in the wilderness, which is in the way to Sur in the desert,


And the Lord appeared to him in the vale of Mambre as he was sitting at the door of his tent, in the very heat of the day.


And he was a sojourner in the land of the Palestines many days.


At the same time Isaac was walking along the way to the well, which is called, Of the Living and the Seeing: for he dwelt in the south country.


And he dwelt from Hevila as far as Sur, which looketh towards Egypt, to them that go towards the Assyrians. He died in the presence of all his brethren.


And when a famine came in the land, after that barrenness which had happened in the days of Abraham, Isaac went to Abimelech, King of the Palestines, to Gerara.


But there also the herdsmen of Gerara strove against the herdsmen of Isaac, saying: It is our water. Wherefore he called the name of the well, on occasion of that which had happened, Calumny.


To which place when Abimelech, and Ochozath his friend, and Phicol chief captain of his soldiers, came from Gerara,


O Lord, in thy favour, thou gavest strength to my beauty. Thou turnedst away thy face from me, and I became troubled.


And Moses brought Israel from the Red Sea, and they went forth into the wilderness of Sur: and they marched three days through the wilderness, and found no water.


And they that went to spy out the land returned after forty days, having gone round all the country:


And how we cried to the Lord, and he heard us, and sent an angel, who hath brought us out of Egypt. Lo, we are now in the city of Cades, which is in the uttermost of thy borders:


And departing from Horeb, we passed through the terrible and vast wilderness, which you saw, by the way of the mountain of the Amorrhite, as the Lord our God had commanded us. And when we were come into Cadesbarne,


Because you trespassed against me in the midst of the children of Israel, at the waters of contradiction in Cades of the desert of Sin: and you did not sanctify me among the children of Israel.


And Saul smote Amalec from Hevila, until thou comest to Sur, which is over against Egypt.
