The counsel pleased Pharao and all his servants.


A mild answer breaketh wrath: but a harsh word stirreth up fury.


A man rejoiceth in the sentence of his mouth: and a word in due time is best.


But yet I am filled with the strength of the spirit of the Lord, with judgment, and power: to declare unto Jacob his wickedness, and to Israel his sin.


Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; because you go round about the sea and the land to make one proselyte; and when he is made, you make him the child of hell twofold more than yourselves.


Now they who had been dispersed by the persecution that arose on occasion of Stephen, went about as far as Phenice and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to none, but to the Jews only.


But some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they were entered into Antioch, spoke also to the Greeks, preaching the Lord Jesus.


And the tidings came to the ears of the church that was at Jerusalem, touching these things: and they sent Barnabas as far as Antioch.


For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith. And a great multitude was added to the Lord.


And they conversed there in the church a whole year; and they taught a great multitude, so that at Antioch the disciples were first named Christians.


And in these days there came prophets from Jerusalem to Antioch:


NOW there were in the church which was at Antioch, prophets and doctors, among whom was Barnabas, and Simon who was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manahen, who was the foster brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.


Then it pleased the apostles and ancients, with the whole church, to choose men of their own company, and to send to Antioch, with Paul and Barnabas, namely, Judas, who was surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren.


And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they began to speak with divers tongues, according as the Holy Ghost gave them to speak.


And the next day departing, we came to Caesarea. And entering into the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, we abode with him.


And when the blood of Stephen thy witness was shed, I stood by and consented, and kept the garments of them that killed him.


And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit that spoke.


Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.


And Stephen, full of grace and fortitude, did great wonders and signs among the people.


THEN the high priest said: Are these things so?


So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaites.


But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaites, which I also hate.
