When the ways of man shall please the Lord, he will convert even his enemies to peace.


And when there arose a great dissension, the tribune fearing lest Paul should be pulled in pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle.


And provide beasts, that they may set Paul on, and bring him safe to Felix the governor.


But the centurion believed the pilot and the master of the ship, more than those things which were said by Paul.


And the day following we came to Sidon. And Julius treating Paul courteously, permitted him to go to his friends, and to take care of himself.


Paul said to the centurion, and to the soldiers: Except these stay in the ship, you cannot be saved.


And the soldiers' counsel was, that they should kill the prisoners, lest any of them, swimming out, should escape.


Thrice was I beaten with rods, once I was stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I was in the depth of the sea.
