Why do you consume my people, and grind the faces of the poor? Saith the Lord, the God of hosts.

That you use among you this parable as a proverb in the land of Israel, saying: The fathers have eaten sour grapes and the teeth of the children are set on edge?


And the shipmaster came to him, and said to him: Why art thou fast asleep? rise up, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think of us, that we may not perish.


But I fear none of these things, neither do I count my life more precious than myself, so that I may consummate my course and the ministry of the word which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.


And there was much weeping among them all; and falling on the neck of Paul, they kissed him,


And they indeed went from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were accounted worthy to suffer reproach for the name of Jesus.


For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.


I die daily, I protest by your glory, brethren, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord.


Yea, and if I be made a victim upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice, and congratulate with you all.


For indeed he longed after you all: and was sad, for that you had heard that he was sick.


Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up those things that are wanting of the sufferings of Christ, in my flesh, for his body, which is the church:


Desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy,


For I am even now ready to be sacrificed: and the time of my dissolution is at hand.


Being assured that the laying away of this my tabernacle is at hand, according as our Lord Jesus Christ also hath signified to me.


And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of the testimony, and they loved not their lives unto death.


Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I will also keep thee from the hour of the temptation, which shall come upon the whole world to try them that dwell upon the earth.


Then Elcana her husband said to her: Anna, why weepest thou? And why dost thou not eat? And why dost thou afflict thy heart? Am not I better to thee than ten children?


And Samuel said: What meaneth then this bleating of the flocks, which soundeth in my ears, and the lowing of the herds, which I hear?
