So Abram removing his tent came and dwelt by the vale of Mambre, which is in Hebron: and he built there an altar to the Lord.


And when he saw them, he said: These are the camps of God. And he called the name of that place Mahanaim, that is, Camps.


And after forty years, Absalom said to king David: Let me go, and pay my vows which I have vowed to the Lord in Hebron.


And the number of the days that David abode, reigning in Hebron over the house of Juda, was seven years and six months.


And David consulted the Lord, saying: Shall I go up to the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said to David: Go up, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into thy hand.


And David consulted the Lord: Shall I go up against the Philistines, and wilt thou deliver them into my hands? He answered: Go not up against them, but fetch a compass behind them; and thou shalt come upon them over against the pear-trees.


And the days that David reigned in Israel, were forty years. In Hebron he reigned seven years, in Jerusalem thirty-three.


And they gave for the works of the house of the Lord: of gold, five thousand talents, and ten thousand solids: of silver, ten thousand talents: and of brass, eighteen thousand talents: and of iron, a hundred thousand talents.

After the death of Josue, the children of Israel consulted the Lord, saying: Who shall go up before us against the Chanaanite, and shall be the leader of the war?


And after this they consulted the Lord whether he would come thither. And the Lord answered: Behold, he is hidden at home.


Therefore David consulted the Lord, saying: Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the Lord said to David: Go. And thou shalt smite the Philistines, and shalt save Ceila.


Therefore David consulted the Lord again. And he answered and said to him: Arise, and go to Ceila: for I will deliver the Philistines into thy hand.


And that were in Hebron, and to the rest that were in those places, in which David had abode with his men.
