And David said to his servants, that were with him in Jerusalem: Arise and let us flee; for we shall not escape else from the face of Absalom. Make haste to go out, lest he come and overtake us, and bring ruin upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.


And they took Absalom, and cast him into a great pit in the forest: and they laid an exceeding great heap of stones upon him. But all Israel fled to their own dwellings.


But Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in the battle. How long are you silent, and bring not back the king?


So the king went on to Galgal, and Chamaam with him. Now all the people of Juda had brought the king over, and only half of the people of Israel were there.


Thou wilt save me from the contradictions of my people; thou wilt keep me to be the head of the Gentiles: the people which I know not shall serve me,


And David came to Baal Pharisim: and defeated them there. And he said: The Lord hath divided my enemies before me, as waters are divided. Therefore the name of the place was called Baal Pharisim.


And I said to them: Which of you hath any gold? And they took and brought it to me: and I cast it into the fire, and this calf came out.


And David prevailed over the Philistine, with a sling and a stone: and he struck, and slew the Philistine. And as David had no sword in his hand,


And Saul said: Speak thus to David: The king desireth not any dowry, but only a hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king's enemies. Now Saul thought to deliver David into the hands of the Philistines.


And he put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine; and the Lord wrought great salvation for all Israel. Thou sawest it and didst rejoice. Why therefore wilt thou sin against innocent blood by killing David, who is without fault?
