18 Now Absalom had reared up for himself, in his lifetime, a pillar, which is in the king's valley. For he said: I have no son; and this shall be the monument of my name. And he called the pillar by is own name, and it is called the hand of Absalom, to this day.

What dost thou here, or as if thou wert somebody here? For thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, thou hast hewed out a monument carefully in a high place, a dwelling for thyself in a rock.


Thus saith the Lord: Write this man barren, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for there shall not be a man of his seed that shall sit upon the throne of David and have power any more in Juda.


Nobe also went, and took Canath with the villages thereof: and he called it by his own name, Nobe.


And when Samuel rose early, to go to Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, that Saul was come to Carmel, and had erected for himself a triumphant arch; and returning had passed on, and gone down to Galgal. And Samuel came to Saul; and Saul was offering a holocaust to the Lord out of the choicest of the spoils which he had brought from Amalec.
