And Eliseus said: Hear ye the word of the Lord: Thus saith the Lord: To-morrow about this time a bushel of fine hour shall be sold for a stater, and two bushels of barley for a stater, in the gate of Samaria.


And they went after them as far as the Jordan. And, behold, all the way was full of garments, and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their fright. And the messengers returned and told the king.


Then Josaphat came, and all the people with him to take away the spoils of the dead. And they found among the dead bodies stuff of various kinds, and garments, and most precious vessels. And they took them for themselves, insomuch that they could not carry all, nor in three days take away the spoils; the booty was so great.


And I made haircloth my garment: and I became a byword to them.


They that sat in the gate spoke against me: and they that drank wine made me their song.


WOE to thee that spoilest! Shalt not thou thyself also be spoiled? And thou that despisest, shalt not thyself also be despised? When thou shalt have made an end of spoiling, thou shalt be spoiled: when being wearied thou shalt cease to despise, thou shalt be despised.


Thy tacklings are loosed, and they shall be of no strength: thy mast shall be in such condition that thou shalt not be able to spread the flag. Then shall the spoils of much prey be divided: the lame shall take the spoil.


And your spoils shall be gathered together as the locusts are gathered: as when the ditches are full of them.


That raise up the word of my servant and perform the counsel of my messengers, who say to Jerusalem: Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Juda: You shall be built, and I will raise up the wastes thereof.


God is not a man, that he should lie: nor as the son of man, that he should be changed. Hath he said then, and will he not do? Hath he spoken, and will he not fulfil?


Heaven and earth shall pass, but my words shall not pass.


And the children of Israel returning, after they had pursued the Philistines, fell upon their camp.
