The watchman saw another man running; and crying aloud from above, he said: I see another man running alone. And the king said: He also is a good messenger.


Then the guards of the gate went, and told it within the king's palace.


Then they said one to another: We do not well; for this is a day of good tidings. If we hold our peace, and do not tell it till the morning, we shall be charged with a crime. Come, let us go and tell it in the king's court.


And with them their brethren: in the second rank, Zacharias, and Ben, and Jaziel, and Semiramoth, and Jahiel, and Ani, and Eliab, and Banaias, and Maasias, and Mathathias, and Eliphalu, and Macenias, and Obededom, and Jehiel, the porters.


And Obededom, with his brethren sixty-eight: and Obededom the son of Idithun, and Hosa he appointed to be porters.


He appointed also porters in the gates of the house of the Lord, that none who was unclean in any thing should enter in.


A gradual canticle. Blessed are all they that fear the Lord: that walk in his ways.
