And they took the bullock which he gave them, and dressed it. And they called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying: O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered: and they leaped over the altar that they had made.


And after midday was past, and while they were prophesying, the time was come of offering sacrifice: and there was no voice heard, nor did any one answer, nor regard them as they prayed.


Eliseus therefore went into the house: and behold, the child lay dead on his bed.


But Giezi the servant of the man of God said: My master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving of him that which he brought. As the Lord liveth, I will run after him, and take some thing of him.


And Eliseus spoke to the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying: Arise, and go thou and thy household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst find. For the Lord hath called a famine, and it shall come upon the land seven years.


So man when he is fallen asleep shall not rise again; till the heavens be broken, he shall not awake, nor rise up out of his sleep.


Son of man, these men have placed their uncleannesses in their hearts, and have set up before their face the stumbling-block of their iniquity: and shall I answer when they inquire of me?


And going in, he saith to them: Why make you this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.


These things he said; and after that he said to them: Lazarus our friend sleepeth; but I go that I may awake him out of sleep.


Wherefore he saith: Rise thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead: and Christ shall enlighten thee.


And Saul consulted the Lord: Shall I pursue after the Philistines? Wilt thou deliver them into the hands of Israel? And he answered him not that day.


And he consulted the Lord, and he answered him not; neither by dreams, nor by priests, nor by prophets.
