I know, my God, that thou provest hearts, and lovest simplicity. Wherefore I also in the simplicity of my heart have joyfully offered all these things: and I have seen with great joy thy people, which are here present, offer thee their offerings.


And the people rejoiced, when they promised their offerings willingly: because they offered them to the Lord with all their heart. And David the king rejoiced also with a great joy.


Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring first-fruits to me: of every man that offereth of his own accord, you shall take them.


Set aside with you first-fruits to the Lord. Let every one that is willing, and hath a ready heart, offer them to the Lord: gold, and silver, and brass:


The soul which blesseth, shall be made fat: and he that inebriateth, shall be inebriated also himself.


He that is inclined to mercy shall be blessed: for of his bread he hath given to the poor. He that maketh presents shall purchase victory and honour: but he carrieth away the souls of the receivers.


The fool shall no more be called prince: neither shall the deceitful be called great.


But the prince will devise such things as are worthy of a prince: and he shall stand above the rulers.


I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring you ought to support the weak, and to remember the word of the Lord Jesus, how he said: It is a more blessed thing to give, rather than to receive.


He that exhorteth, in exhorting; he that giveth, with simplicity; he that ruleth, with carefulness; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.


For if the will be forward, it is accepted according to that which a man hath, not according to that which he hath not.


But shalt give him for his way: out of thy flocks, and out of thy barnfloor, and thy winepress, wherewith the Lord thy God shall bless thee.


But without thy counsel I would do nothing: that thy good deed might not be as it were of necessity, but voluntary.


Grudge not, brethren, one against another, that you may not be judged. Behold the judge standeth before the door.


Using hospitality one towards another, without murmuring,
