And the king said to the man of God: Come home with me to dine, and I will make thee presents.


Take also with thee ten loaves, and cracknels, and a pot of honey; and go to him: for he will tell thee what shall become of this child.


And a certain man came from Baalsalisa bringing to the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and new corn in his scrip. And he said: Give to the people, that they may eat.


And returning to the man of God with all his train, be came, and stood before him, and said: In truth, I know there is no other God in all the earth, but only in Israel. I beseech thee therefore take a blessing of thy servant.


And the king of Syria sad to him: Go, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and tell changes of raiment.


And the king said to Hazael: Take with thee presents, and go to meet the man of God, and consult the Lord by him, saying: Can I recover of this my illness?


And Hazael went to meet him, taking with him presents, and all the good things of Damascus, the burdens of forty camels. And when he stood before him, he said: Thy son Benadad the king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying: Can I recover of this my illness?


And they violated me among my people for a handful of barley and a piece of bread, to kill souls which should not die and to save souls alive which should not live telling lies to my people that believe lies.


And depart not hence, till I return to thee, and bring a sacrifice, and offer it to thee. And he answered: I will wait thy coming.
