Now till the three and twentieth year of king Joas the priests did not make the repairs of the temple.


My heart hath said to thee: My face hath sought thee: thy face, O Lord, will I still seek.


And they violated me among my people for a handful of barley and a piece of bread, to kill souls which should not die and to save souls alive which should not live telling lies to my people that believe lies.


Thus saith the Lord God: Behold I myself come upon the shepherds, I will require my hock at their hand, and I will cause them to cease from feeding the flock any more, neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more: and I will deliver my flock from their mouth, and it shall no more be meat for them.


Son of man, prophesy concerning the shepherds of Israel: prophesy, and say to the shepherds: Thus saith the Lord God: Woe to the shepherds of Israel, that fed themselves: should not the hocks be fed by the shepherds?


They shall eat the sins of my people, and shall lift up their souls to their iniquity.


Thou shalt not do that which is unjust, nor judge unjustly. Respect not the person of the poor: nor honour the countenance of the mighty. But judge thy neighbour according to justice.


Thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that make my people err: that bite with their teeth, and preach peace: and if a man give not something into their mouth, they prepare war against him.


He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me.


And they sent to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying: Master, we know that thou art a true speaker, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou dost not regard the person of men.


If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.


For they that are such, serve not Christ our Lord, but their own belly; and by pleasing speeches and good words, seduce the hearts of the innocent.


Wherefore henceforth, we know no man according to the flesh. And if we have known Christ according to the flesh; but now we know him so no longer.


The beloved grew fat, and kicked: he grew fat, and thick and gross. He forsook God who made him: and departed from God his saviour.


Who hath said to his father, and to his mother: I do not know you. And to his brethren: I know you not: and their own children they have not known. These have kept thy word, and observed thy covenant,


But the wisdom, that is from above, first indeed is chaste, then peaceable, modest, easy to be persuaded, consenting to the good, full of mercy and good fruits, without judging, without dissimulation.


And all the children of Israel assembled together in Silo. And there they set up the tabernacle of the testimony: and the land was subdued before them.


For I have foretold unto him, that I will judge his house for ever, for iniquity; because he knew that his sons did wickedly, and did not chastise them.
