And to Adam he said: Because thou hast hearkened to the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldst not eat, cursed is the earth in thy work; with labour and toil shalt thou eat thereof all the days of thy life.


And David said to Nathan: I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said to David: The Lord also hath taken away thy sin. Thou shalt not die.


If I have been afraid at a very great multitude, and the contempt of kinsmen hath terrified me: and I have not rather held my peace, and not gone out of the door:


All the day long thy tongue hath devised injustice: as a sharp razor, thou hast wrought deceit.


Wherefore Pharao in haste called Moses and Aaron, and said to them: I have sinned against the Lord your God, and against you.


Thou shalt not follow the multitude to do evil: neither shalt thou yield in judgment, to the opinion of the most part, to stray from the truth.


And Pharao sent and called Moses and Aaron, saying to them: I have sinned this time also. The Lord is just: I and my people are wicked.


He that feareth man, shall quickly fall: he that trusteth in the Lord, shall be set on high.


And king Sedecias said: Behold, he is in your hands: for it is not lawful for the king to deny you any thing.


Balaam said: I have sinned, not knowing that thou didst stand against me. And now if it displease thee that I go, I will return.

And Saul said: They have brought them from Amalec. For the people spared the best of the sheep and of the herds that they might be sacrificed to the Lord thy God; but the rest we have slain.


Then he said: I have sinned. Yet honour me now before the ancients of my people, and before Israel, and return with me, that I may adore the Lord thy God.


And Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the flocks of sheep and of the herds, and the garments and the rams, and all that was beautiful, and would not destroy them: but every thing that was vile and good for nothing, that they destroyed.


Why have you kicked away my victims, and my gifts which I commanded to be offered in the temple: and thou hast rather honoured thy sons than me, to eat the first-fruits of every sacrifice of my people Israel?


And Saul said: I have sinned. Return my son David, for I will no more do thee harm, because my life hath been precious in thy eyes this day: for it appeareth that I have done foolishly, and have been ignorant in very many things.
