But it happened that, on a certain day, when the sons of God had arrived and they stood before the Lord, Satan likewise arrived among them, and he stood in his sight.


He said to her, "You have spoken like one of the foolish wives. If we accepted good things from the hand of God, why should we not accept bad things?" In all this, Job did not sin with his lips.


Therefore, prudent men, hear me: impiety is far from God, and iniquity is far from the Almighty.


There is also another vanity, which is done upon the earth. There are the just, to whom evils happen, as though they had done the works of the impious. And there are the impious, who are very secure, as though they possess the deeds of the just. But this, too, I judge to be a very great vanity.


Therefore, we now call the arrogant blessed, as if those who work impiety have been built up, and as if they have tempted God and been saved."


O man, who are you to question God? How can the thing that has been formed say to the One who formed him: "Why have you made me this way?"


Blessed is the man who suffers temptation. For when he has been proven, he shall receive the crown of life which God has promised to those who love him.


and patience brings a work to perfection, so that you may be perfect and whole, deficient in nothing.


so that the testing of your faith, which is much more precious than gold tested by fire, may be found in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
