And he led her into the tent of Sarah his mother, and he accepted her as wife. And he loved her so very much, that it tempered the sorrow which befell him at his mother's death.


Laban responded, "It is better that I give her to you than to another man; remain with me."


Complete a week of days with this mating. And then I will give this one to you also, for the service that you will provide to me for another seven years."


And, having at last obtained the marriage he desired, he preferred the love of the latter before the former, and he served with him another seven years.


Give me my wives, and my children, for whom I have served you, so that I may depart. You know the servitude with which I have served you."


Has he not considered us as foreigners, and sold us, and consumed our price?


Neither did the young man cause any delay; in fact he immediately fulfilled what was requested. For he loved the girl very much, and he was well-known throughout his father's house.


Jacob fled into the region of Syria, and Israel served like a wife, and was served by a wife.


Yet by a prophet the Lord led Israel out of Egypt, and he was served by a prophet.


Charity suffers all, believes all, hopes all, endures all.


For the charity of Christ urges us on, in consideration of this: that if one died for all, then all have died.


And walk in love, just as Christ also loved us and delivered himself for us, as an oblation and a sacrifice to God, with a fragrance of sweetness.


And the servants of Saul spoke all these words to the ears of David. And David said: "Does it seem a small matter to you, to be the son-in-law of the king? I am but a poor and unimportant man."
