But they would not listen. Instead they hardened their neck like the neck of their ancestors who didn’t believe in YHWH their God.


He did that which was evil, because he didn’t set his heart to seek YHWH.


Nevertheless there are good things found in you, in that you have put away the Asheroth out of the land, and have set your heart to seek God.”


However the high places were not taken away, and the people had still not set their hearts on the God of their fathers.


who sets his heart to seek God, YHWH, the God of his fathers, even if they aren’t clean according to the purification of the sanctuary.”


Don’t be like y’all’s ancestors and siblings, who trespassed against YHWH, the God of their ancestors, so that ʜᴇ gave them up as an object of horror, as y’all see.


“If you set your heart aright, stretch out your hands toward ʜɪᴍ.


Our ancestors didn’t appreciate your miraculous works in Egypt. They didn’t remember the multitude of your lovingkindnesses, Instead the rebelled at the sea, the Red Sea.


God sets the lonely in families. Hᴇ brings out the prisoners with singing, but the rebellious dwell in a sun-scorched land.


For their heart was not right with ʜɪᴍ, neither were they faithful in ʜɪꜱ covenant.


How often they rebelled against ʜɪᴍ in the wilderness, and grieved ʜɪᴍ in the desert!


Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God, and didn’t keep ʜɪꜱ testimonies,


YHWH said to Moses, “I have seen these people, they are a stiff-necked people.


Go to a land flowing with milk and honey; but I will not go up among you, for you are a stiff-necked people, lest I consume you on the way.”


For YHWH had said to Moses, “Tell the children of Israel, ‘Y’all are a stiff-necked people. If I were to go up among you for one moment, I would consume you. Therefore now take off your jewelry, and I will decide what to do to you.’”


He said, “If now I have found favor in your sight, Lord, please let the Lord go among us, even though this is a stiff-necked people; pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.”


For it is a rebellious people, lying children, children who will not hear YHWH’s law.


I said to their children in the wilderness, ‘Y’all must not walk in the statutes of your* parents. Y’all must not keep their ordinances or defile yourselves* with their idols.


“‘“But they rebelled against me and wouldn’t listen to me. They didn’t all throw away the detestable things before their eyes. And they didn’t forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them, to accomplish my anger against them in the middle of the land of Egypt.


When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced and exhorted them all to remain true to the Lord with purpose in their hearts.


“Y’all stiff-necked people with uncircumcised hearts and ears! Y’all are always resisting the Holy Spirit, just like your* ancestors did.


For I know your rebellion and your stiff neck. Look, while I am yet alive with y’all today, y’all have been rebellious against YHWH. How much more after my death?


But y’all who were faithful to YHWH y’all’s God are, all y’all are alive today.


Furthermore YHWH spoke to me, saying, “I have seen these people, and indeed, they are a stiff-necked people.


Y’all have been rebellious against YHWH from the first day that I knew y’all.


They came to the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, to the land of Gilead, and they spoke with them, saying,


According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even to this day, in that they have forsaken me and served other gods, so they also do to you.
