“My soul is weary of my life. I will give free course to my complaint. I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.


My friends scoff at me, as my eyes pour out tears to God.


“Even today my complaint is rebellious. Hɪꜱ hand is heavy in spite of my groaning.


so I am made to possess months of misery, wearisome nights are appointed to me.


It is not the dead who praise YHWH, nor any who go down into silence,


Hear, YHWH, and have mercy on me. YHWH, be my helper.”


Lord, all my desire is before you. My groaning is not hidden from you.


“Hear my prayer, YHWH, and give ear to my cry. Don’t be silent at my tears. For I am a stranger with you, a foreigner, as all my fathers were.


My tears have been my food day and night, while people ask my all day long, “Where is your God?”


I am weary with my crying. My throat is dry. My eyes fail looking for my God.


Is your lovingkindness declared in the grave? Or your faithfulness in Destruction?


My eyes are dim from grief. I have called on you daily, YHWH. I have spread out my hands to you.


For Sheol cannot praise you. Death cannot celebrate you. Those who go down into the pit cannot hope for your truth.


“You are to speak this word to them: “‘Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease. For the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous wound.


“For these things I weep. My eye, my eye runs down with water, because the comforter who should refresh my soul is far from me. My children are desolate, because the enemy has prevailed.”


She weeps-weeps in the night. Her tears are on her cheeks. Among all her lovers she has no one to comfort her. All her friends have dealt treacherously with her. They have become her enemies.


My eyes fail with tears. My heart is troubled. My bile is poured on the earth, because of the destruction of the daughter of my people, because the young children and the infants swoon in the streets of the city.
