They wandered in the wilderness in a desert way. They found no city to live in.


Hᴇ pours contempt on princes, and causes them to wander in a trackless waste.


Therefore ʜᴇ consumed their days in vanity, and their years in terror.


you must not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, YHWH your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me,


“Therefore Lord YHWH says: ‘Because you have forgotten me and cast me behind your back, therefore you also bear your lewdness and your prostitution.’”


Don’t rejoice, Israel, to jubilation like the nations; for you were unfaithful to your God. You love the wages of a prostitute at every grain threshing floor.


YHWH’s anger burned against Israel, and he made them wander back and forth in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation who had done evil in YHWH’s sight was consumed.


Aaron the priest went up into Mount Hor at the commandment of YHWH and died there, in the fortieth year after the children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, in the fifth month, on the first day of the month.


The man will be free from iniquity, and that woman will bear her iniquity.’”


This man led them out, performing wonders and signs in Egypt, at the Red Sea, and for forty years in the wilderness.


In the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, Moses spoke to the children of Israel according to all that YHWH had given him in commandment to them,


The time from when we travelled from Kadesh Barnea until we came to Zered Valley was thirty-eight years, until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as YHWH had sworn to them.


For YHWH your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has known your walking through this great wilderness. These forty years, YHWH your God has been with you. You have lacked nothing.


I have led y’all forty years in the wilderness. Y’all’s clothes have not grown old on y’all, and your sandal has not grown old on your foot.


You must remember all the way which YHWH your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you, test you, and know what was in your heart, whether you would keep ʜɪꜱ commandments or not.


For these forty years, your clothes did not grow old on you, nor did your foot swell.


“So now look, YHWH has kept me alive, as he spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that YHWH spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. Here I am, eighty-five years old today.


For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness until all the nation, even the men of war who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they didn’t listen to YHWH’s voice. YHWH swore to them that he wouldn’t let them see the land which YHWH swore to their fathers that he would give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.
