I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: and I will sing unto thee among the populations.


Thou shalt not adore them, nor serve them. I am the Lord thy God, mighty, jealous, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me:


Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Because thou hast forgotten me and hast cast me off behind thy back, bear thou also thy wickedness and thy fornications.


Rejoice not, O Israel: rejoice not as the nations do: for thou hast committed fornication against thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.


And the Lord being angry against Israel, led them about through the desert forty years, until the old generation, that had done evil in his sight, was consumed.


And Aaron the priest went up into mount Hor at the commandment of the Lord: and there he died in the fortieth year of the coming forth of the children of Israel out of Egypt, the fifth month, the first day of the month,


The husband shall be blameless, and she shall bear her iniquity.


He brought them out, doing wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the desert forty years.


In the fortieth year, the eleventh month, the first day of the month, Moses spoke to the children of Israel all that the Lord had commanded him to say to them.


And the time that we journeyed from Cadesbarne till we passed over the torrent Zared was thirty-eight years: until all the generation of the men that were fit for war was consumed out of the camp, as the Lord had sworn.


The Lord thy God hath blessed thee in every work of thy hands. The Lord thy God dwelling with thee knoweth thy journey: how thou hast passed through this great wilderness, for forty years, and thou hast wanted nothing.


He hath brought you forty years through the desert. Your garments are not worn out, neither are the shoes of your feet consumed with age.


And thou shalt remember all the way through which the Lord thy God hath brought thee for forty years through the desert, to afflict thee and to prove thee: and that the things that were in thy heart might be made known, whether thou wouldst keep his commandments or no.


Thy raiment, with which thou wast covered, hath not decayed for age, and thy foot is not worn: lo, this is the fortieth year:


The Lord therefore hath granted me life, as he promised until this present day. It is forty and five years since the Lord spoke this word to Moses, when Israel journeyed through the wilderness: this day I am eighty-five years old,


During the forty years of the journey in the wide wilderness, were uncircumcised: till all they were consumed that had not heard the voice of the Lord, and to whom he had sworn before, that he would not shew them the land flowing with milk and honey.
