We see no miraculous signs. There is no longer any prophet, neither is there among us anyone who knows how long.

who frustrates the signs of the liars, and makes diviners mad; who turns wise men backward, and makes their knowledge foolish;


Then they said, “Come, y’all! Let’s devise plans against Jeremiah, for the law won’t be lost from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, y’all, and let’s strike him with the tongue, and let’s not give heed to any of his words.”


Sigh, but not aloud. Make no mourning for the dead. Bind your headdress on you, and put your sandals on your feet. Don’t cover your lips, and don’t eat mourner’s bread.”


Y’all will do as I have done. Y’all won’t cover your* lips or eat mourner’s bread.

When Saul inquired of YHWH, YHWH didn’t answer him by dreams, by Urim, or by prophets.


(In earlier times in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, he said, “Y’all come! Let’s go to the seer,” because the a prophet of today was formerly called a seer.)
